Mr. Tran
High School Principal
Mr. Tran was born in Vietnam and grew up in Queens, NY and attended Brooklyn Tech High School. He later attended Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College and majored in Political Science and Psychology. After learning about the inequities of the education system, he quickly wanted to pursue a career in education. After graduating, he applied to Teach for America and was sent to Chicago, where he spent 5 years teaching at three different charter schools.
After five years, he moved back to New York City and worked in various different schools (Great Oaks, Success Academy, Uncommon, and Democracy Prep) until he found Legacy College Prep. As a founding Algebra/Geometry teacher of the high school, Mr. Tran worked to invest scholars in the content while doing online learning. Mr. Tran also served as a Grade Level Chair, Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, and Assistant Principal.
In his current position, he is looking to build responsible structures and programs that allow scholars to make the right choices, be invested in their education, and aspire for more!
